What actually has the greatest impact on job satisfaction?_x000D_ In IT, it becomes especially clear that it’s not just the role or the tasks that matter, but above all the conditions in which development takes place. As vast as the opportunities in IT are, the environment strongly influences how they are actually realized. Transparent communication, clear development paths and collaboration on equal footing shape how people perceive their role and grow within it.
Company culture becomes visible in everyday actions – in how decisions are made, how feedback is given and how accessible development opportunities truly are. Only when these conditions are right can skills grow and potential unfold.

Even as the job market evolves, expectations of employers remain high. When choosing a job, it’s not just about tasks and technologies, but above all the conditions in which work takes place.

Benefits have long become a key factor for satisfaction, development and long-term prospects. This is also reflected in a study from the kununu ZukunftsPanorama. The most in-demand benefits are flexible working hours and remote work (55%), health-related offerings (43%), and learning and development opportunities (38%). What matters most to employees can be grouped into five key areas:

  • Flexible working models
Remote work, hybrid setups and flexible working hours
  • Learning and development
Professional training, personal development and coaching
  • Health and wellbeing
Initiatives that support wellbeing and long-term performance
  • Team culture and collaboration
Daily exchange, team events and shared activities
  • Transparency and career paths
Clear development opportunities and open communication

An expert in the area of benefits is Stefanie Stocker. She has been part of Evolit since 2017 and now works in HR. She originally started in Office Management before developing internally and completing an HR qualification supported by Evolit.

Today, she is responsible for HR topics and works closely on recruiting, company culture and employee development. Through her journey within the company, she understands both operational processes and strategic HR topics.

What stands out to her most is the dynamic nature of the IT industry and the opportunity to actively shape structures and working conditions.

Evolit: How did you personally get into the IT industry?

Stefanie: Honestly, more by chance. After finishing school, I wasn’t focused on a specific industry. Evolit simply felt like an exciting opportunity.

What made me stay was primarily the environment. IT is incredibly dynamic – you are constantly learning and working with a wide range of people and topics. Especially in HR, it’s exciting because you are very close to how the industry evolves.

Evolit: You transitioned internally from Office Management into HR. How did you experience that journey?

Stefanie: For me, it was a very valuable experience. I realized that I wanted to grow and move further into HR.

What I appreciated most was that this ambition was taken seriously and actively supported. I had the opportunity to complete relevant training and gradually grow into the new role.

I was supported not only professionally, but also encouraged in everyday work to take on new tasks and responsibilities.

To me, this clearly shows that development here is not just a buzzword – it is truly lived.

Evolit:You’ve been working in HR at Evolit for several years. What changes have you observed in IT recruiting and candidate expectations?

Stefanie: A lot has changed in recent years. The market has become significantly more competitive, and strong candidates often have multiple options. At the same time, expectations have shifted. Flexibility, purpose and company culture have become much more important.

What I particularly notice is that recruiting processes need to be faster, more transparent and more personal. Active sourcing and employer branding have also gained importance. Companies can no longer wait for applications – they need to actively approach talent.

Evolit: You mentioned employer branding. What matters most to you and how do you approach it at Evolit?

Stefanie: For me, authenticity is key. What we communicate externally must be reflected in everyday work.

At Evolit, we aim to provide real insights into how we work and how collaboration actually happens. This includes transparent development opportunities, flexible working models and benefits that genuinely support daily work – for example in learning, coaching or health.

It is also important that we don’t just talk about culture, but actively live it. This shows in daily interactions, communication and how we enable development.

Evolit:What role does company culture play in attracting and retaining people in IT?

Stefanie: From my perspective, it is a crucial factor. An open and appreciative culture ensures that people feel comfortable and can contribute their strengths.
What matters is that development opportunities are realistic and transparent. Culture is not defined by words, but by everyday actions.

Evolit: What makes Evolit, in your view, a place where people can grow and stay long term?

Stefanie: What I value most about Evolit is the open and supportive atmosphere. People work on equal footing and individual development is truly encouraged.
I personally had the opportunity to move from Office Management into HR. That shows that potential is recognized and supported.

Evolit: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in IT but still unsure?

Stefanie: I would say: just try it and don’t rule yourself out too early. You don’t have to know everything from the start.
IT offers a wide range of opportunities beyond traditional programming. Often, you only discover what suits you by doing it.

Evolit:Looking ahead, what needs to change for diversity to become a natural part of IT?

Stefanie: I believe a continued shift in mindset is needed – both within companies and in society. More visibility, fewer stereotypes and a stronger focus on potential rather than perfect CVs would be important steps. In the long term, diversity should simply be a given.

At Evolit, we create conditions that foster development, flexibility and collaboration in everyday work. How this comes to life is also reflected in the benefits we offer our employees.
